pharmachologic effect

It has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, antimicrobial, anti-allergic effects.

Indications for use

Rheumatoid arthritis, acute rheumatism, osteoarthritis, arthrosis and other inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints. Traumatic injuries to muscles, joints, ligaments, inflammatory edema, purulent wounds, abscesses, acute and chronic osteomyelitis. Erythema nodosum, streptoderma , acne, furunculosis, erysipelas.

Method of administration and dosage

Dimethyl sulfoxide is used externally in the form of applications and irrigations (washings), usually in aqueous p – rah (30-50 %) for tampons compresses. The compress is applied to the affected areas, covering the adjacent healthy skin. 

R – rum moisten gauze napkins, which are applied to the affected areas 1 time per day for 20-30 minutes. A plastic wrap and cotton or linen cloth are applied over the napkin . The course of treatment is 10-15 days.   

Side effects

Dimethyl sulfoxide is usually well tolerated, but some patients may experience erythema, itching, dizziness, insomnia, adynamia, dermatitis, diarrhea. In some cases, nausea, vomiting, bronchospasm are observed.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance. Severe heart – vascular insufficiency, atherosclerosis, stroke, angina pectoris, abnormal liver function and kidney. Glaucoma, cataracts. Pregnancy. Age up to 9 years.

Overdose

Strengthening the side effects of the drug. Therapy is symptomatic.
