A complex preparation containing trace elements. Compensates for the deficiency of iron, copper and manganese in the body.
Indications for use
Iron deficiency anemia, regardless of origin.
Prevention of iron deficiency anemia in patients at risk (pregnant women, children, adolescents, women of reproductive age, the elderly), when it is not possible to provide the body with the required amount of iron from food.
Method of administration and dosage
The contents of the ampoule are dissolved in a sufficient amount of liquid. During treatment, it is necessary to strictly follow the doctor’s recommendations regarding the dosage and regimen of the drug. Usually prescribed for adults 2 -4 vials of the drug a day for children older than 1 month – on 5-10 mg of drug per 1 kg of body weight per day.
The duration of the course of treatment is from 3 to 6 months.
In the prevention of iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women , 50 mg of iron (1 ampoule) per day is prescribed during the last 6 months of pregnancy.
Side effects
Allergic reactions, including itching, skin rashes, urticaria, and anaphylactic reactions are rarely possible.
While taking the drug, stool may turn black, this phenomenon is not harmful and does not require discontinuation of the drug.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the individual components of the drug. Anemia not associated with iron deficiency. Hemochromatosis , hemosiderosis. Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer in the acute stage. Poisoning with lead salts. Pregnancy for periods less than 4 months.
Childhood.
Overdose
Symptoms In case of an overdose of the drug, there are observed: nausea, vomiting, pain in the epigastric region, diarrhea, shock reactions. With a strong overdose of possible tissue necrosis gastro – intestinal tract.
Treatment. In overdose recommended gastric lavage 1 % p – rum baking soda.
If the concentration of iron in the blood is exceeded by more than 5 mg / ml, the appointment of Deferoxamine is recommended . In other cases, symptomatic therapy is indicated.
