pharmachologic effect
The therapeutic effect is based on the secretolytic , mucolytic and antispasmodic effects of glycosidic saponins contained in ivy leaves.
Indications for use
Acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis, tracheobronchitis and AD.
Dosage and administration
Syrup. It should be used undiluted regardless of the meal. Infants are advised to give the drug diluted in fruit juice or tea. Syrup is taken: children from 1 year to 4 years old – 3 times a day, 4-10 years old – 4 times a day, children over 10 years old and adults – 3 times a day.
Drops for oral administration. The drug should be used undiluted, regardless of food intake, with plenty of water. Children are advised to give the drug diluted in fruit juice or tea. Drops are taken 3 times a day. A single dose is: for children 2–4 years old – 16 drops; 4-10 years – 21 drops; for children over 10 years old and adults – 31 drops.
The duration of use depends on the severity of the disease, but even with a mild illness, treatment with the drug must be carried out for at least 1 week. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, treatment should be continued for 2-3 days.
Side effects
Syrup. Gastrointestinal Disorders (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea).
Drops for oral administration. Allergic reactions, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rarely – pain in the epigastric region.
Contraindications
Syrup. Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, insufficiency of argininosuccinate – synthetase, hereditary fructose intolerance, age up to 1 year.
Drops for oral administration. Hypersensitivity to the drug, asthma, insufficiency in the body argininosuccinic acid – synthetase, a tendency to laryngospasm, age up to 2 years.
Overdose
Symptoms . Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea are possible.
