pharmachologic effect

The drug has antitoxic and antioxidant properties. Helps lower blood glucose and accumulate glycogen in the liver. Affects cholesterol metabolism, takes part in the regulation of lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, improves liver function.

Indications for use

With prophylactic and therapeutic purposes in the complex therapy of diabetic polyneuropathy, liver diseases (hepatitis, cirrhosis), poisoning with salts of heavy metals, mushrooms, and chronic intoxication.

Method of administration and dosage

In / in adults   at a dose of 10-20 ml per day. Enter slowly, at a rate of no more than 50 mg per minute. Better administered by infusion with isotonic sodium chloride solution: 10-20 ml dialipona mixed with 200-250 ml of 0.9 % p – pa sodium chloride and administered over 20-30 minutes.     

At the beginning of the course of treatment for 2-4 weeks, the drug is injected intravenously, after which they switch to maintenance therapy with dosage forms of alpha – lipoic acid for oral administration in a dose of 300-600 mg 1 time per day for 1-3 months. The drug is taken without chewing, with a small amount of liquid. To consolidate the effect of treatment, the course of therapy is recommended 2 times a year.  

Side effects

After a quick intravenous injection, there is a feeling of heaviness in the head, nausea, vomiting and difficulty in breathing, which then quickly disappear. Possible allergic skin reactions at the injection site; hypoglycemia due to improved glucose utilization. When taken orally, in some cases, heartburn, abdominal pain of moderate intensity may occur, the likelihood of which decreases when the drug is used during or after a meal.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug. It is not recommended to prescribe the drug during pregnancy, lactation and children due to the lack of experience with the clinical use of the drug in this category of patients.

Overdose

Symptoms   Nausea, vomiting, headache. In case of an overdose or the development of a severe side effect, you must immediately stop taking the drug.

Treatment.   Symptomatic.
