pharmachologic effect
Chondroitin reduces the activity of enzymes that destroy articular cartilage, and stimulates its regeneration. Reduces pain, improves joint function, reduces the need for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee and hip joints. It has chondroprotective properties.
Indications for use
Primary and secondary osteoarthrosis; osteocondritis of the spine; degenerative – dystrophic diseases of the spine and joints; humeroscapular periarthritis; bone fractures.
In the complex treatment of diseases of support – motor apparatus, and other conditions involving degenerative – degenerative changes of articular cartilage tissue, – children over 12 years, adults and the elderly.
Dosage and administration
Capsules Adults and children over 12 years old in the first 3 weeks – 1 capsule 3 times a day; in the following days – 1 capsule 2 times a day. Capsules are taken orally with a little water. The minimum duration of admission is 2 months, if necessary – longer.
Ointment (gel). Apply a thin layer over the focus of inflammation and rub 2-3 minutes. The procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.
Side effects
Sensation of slight nausea, pain in the epigastric region, flatulence, diarrhea, in isolated cases – allergic reactions.
Contraindications
Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug, phenylketonuria, pregnancy and lactation.
Overdose
Treatment. In case of overdose, the patient is immediately hospitalized.
In the case of the use of ointment (gel) with the appearance of skin irritation symptoms at the place of use, treatment should be discontinued.
