pharmachologic effect

Intestinal antiseptic. Active against most pathogens of intestinal infections.

Indications for use

Acute diarrhea, chronic colitis and enterocolitis of an infectious nature; complex treatment of intestinal dysbiosis syndrome; prevention of infectious complications from the gastrointestinal tract during surgical operations.

Dosage and administration

Tablets. Adults and children over 6 years of age:   2 tablets 4 times a day every 6 hours, regardless of food intake. The course of treatment is 5-7 days.  

Suspension. Children under 6 years of age are   recommended to prescribe the drug in the form of a suspension. Before use, the bottle must be shaken thoroughly until a homogeneous suspension is obtained. Children aged 2–6 months:   2.5–5 ml (0.5–1 tsp) 2 times a day; from 6 months to 6 years:   5 ml (1 tsp) 3 times a day; over 6 years:   5 ml (1 tsp) 4 times a day; adults:   5 ml (1 tsp) 4 times a day.        

Side effects

Rarely – temporary abdominal pain, nausea, increased diarrhea. 

With increased sensitivity to the drug (shortness of breath, skin rashes, itching), it is necessary to stop taking it.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, age up to 2 months.

Overdose

Symptoms of an overdose are not known. If the dose is exceeded, gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment are recommended.
