pharmachologic effect

Cromoglycic acid is an antiallergic agent, it has a membrane stabilizing effect, and prevents the degranulation of mast cells and the release of histamine and leukotrienes from them. 

Indications for use

Dosage nasal aerosol and nasal drops : prevention and treatment of seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis.

Eye drops : acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis.

Dosage and administration

Nasal spray. 1 injection 4 times a day in each nostril.

Eye drops. 1 drop 4 times a day in each eye. Treatment should be continued after the relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (conjunctivitis) throughout the entire period of action of allergens. The duration of therapy in chronic cases is determined individually.

Side effects

When using the nasal spray – irritation of the mucous membrane of the nose and throat, reflex cough, a feeling of dryness in the throat. When applying eye drops, a burning sensation, a foreign body, swelling and hyperemia of the conjunctiva are possible. 

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to cromoglic acid, pregnancy (I trimester), age up to 5 years (for inhalation use in the form of an aerosol), up to 2 years (in the form of capsules with powder for inhalation). Use with caution in renal or hepatic insufficiency, during pregnancy (II – III trimesters) and breastfeeding.
