pharmachologic effect

Ketoprofen has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. It has an analgesic effect and eliminates the symptoms of inflammatory – degenerative diseases of supporting – motor system.

Indications for use

Relief of pain syndrome of various origins – in the postoperative period, post-traumatic therapy in dental, gynecological, neurological, oncological practice; symptomatic and pathogenetic treatment of inflammatory and inflammatory – degenerative diseases of the joints: rheumatoid arthritis, seronegative spondyloarthritis, osteoarthritis, gouty and pseudogouty arthritis, extra-articular manifestations of rheumatism. 

Method of administration and dosage

Inside – with meals, usually 1 capsule or tablet forte 3 times a day (morning, noon and evening) or 1-2 suppositories per day. A combination is also possible – in the morning and at noon, 1 capsule or tablet forte, and before going to bed, introduce a suppository. Retard tablets – 1 tablet 2 times a day (every 12 hours).    

Side effects

Most often, there are violations from the gastrointestinal tract.

Rarely – headache, dizziness, confusion, hypersomnia, drowsiness, edema, mental changes, insomnia. Allergic reactions. 

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy and lactation, childhood; peptic ulcer or duodenal ulcer, increased risk of gastro – intestinal bleeding, severe liver and kidney function. In addition, the use of suppositories is contraindicated in proctitis, cream – in dermatoses, eczema and skin infections. 

Overdose

Possible nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain; very rarely – gastro – intestinal bleeding, impairment of consciousness, respiratory depression, convulsions and renal failure. Gastric lavage and intake of activated charcoal are recommended. The development of disorders of the digestive tract can be prevented by taking antacids and antiulcer drugs.
