pharmachologic effect

It has an analgesic effect. Expands the coronary vessels, enhances the supply of oxygen to the myocardium. The hypotensive effect is due to a direct vasodilating effect on vascular smooth muscle. Can be used in patients with asthma, diabetes or gout.

Indications for use

AH, exertional angina, vasospastic angina, silent myocardial ischemia, dilated cardiomyopathy with severe chronic heart failure. Treatment of hypertension, stable angina and vasospastic angina.

Dosage and administration

inside. For both hypertension and angina pectoris , the usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. The maximum dose is 10 mg per day. With hypertension, the maintenance dose is 2.5-5 mg per day. For the prevention of angina attacks – 10 mg per day.

With dilated cardiomyopathy with severe chronic heart failure, the initial dose is 5 mg 1 time per day, with good tolerance, the dose is increased to 10 mg 1 time per day.

Side effects

Headache, swelling, fatigue, drowsiness, nausea, abdominal pain, facial flushing, palpitations and dizziness.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to amlodipine . aortic stenosis. Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with left ventricular outflow tract obstruction. Tachycardia. Arterial hypotension (less than 90 mm Hg. Art.). Vascular and cardiogenic shock, collapse. First month of acute myocardial infarction. Breastfeeding period, pregnancy. Age up to 18 years.

With caution – liver and / or kidney failure, chronic heart failure.

Overdose

Decreased blood pressure, nausea, weakness, dizziness, drowsiness, confusion and speech.

Treatment. The stomach is washed, calcium preparations are administered intravenously to eliminate the effects of calcium channel blockade, and symptomatic treatment is carried out.

Amlodipine is not excreted from the body by peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis.
