pharmachologic effect
Antioxidant, antihypoxic, membrane stabilizing, nootropic, anxiolytic agent. Has stress – protective, antiamnesic, anticonvulsant, lipid-lowering effect. Prevents violation of learning and memory processes.
Indications for use
Acute cerebrovascular accident, discirculatory encephalopathy, vegetative-vascular dystonia, mild cognitive disorders of atherosclerotic genesis, anxiety disorders in neurotic and neurosis-like states, withdrawal symptoms in alcoholism with a predominance of neurosis-like and vegetative-vascular disorders; acute intoxication with antipsychotic drugs, acute pancreatic necrosis, peritonitis (as part of complex therapy).
Method of administration and dosage
Parenteral administration : intramuscularly, intravenously (jet, slowly, over 5-7 minutes; drip, at a rate of 40-60 drops per minute). When infusion, diluted in 0.9 % p – D sodium chloride.
The dosage regimen is set individually. The initial dose (50-100 mg 1-3 times a day) is gradually increased until a therapeutic effect is obtained.
Inside , the average daily dose is 250-500 mg (maximum – 600-800 mg) in 2-3 doses.
The duration of treatment of patients with neurosis and neurotic disorders with organic psychosyndrome, due to cerebral ischemia, cranial – cerebral trauma, intoxication, and senile atrophic processes; as well as for memory impairment in the elderly – within 2-6 weeks, for relief of alcohol withdrawal syndrome – 5-7 days.
Side effects
Nausea, dry mouth, drowsiness.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, acute abnormalities in liver and kidney function, childhood, pregnancy, breastfeeding.
Overdose
Symptoms . In case of an overdose, drowsiness is noted.
Treatment. Symptomatic.
