pharmachologic effect

Irritates the receptors of the mucous membrane and enhances intestinal motility. Used as a laxative. The effect occurs within 8-10 hours after ingestion. 

Indications for use

Chronic constipation.

Method of administration and dosage

Shake the syrup before use. Adults   are prescribed 1–2 tsp ; children from 5 to 12 years old – 0.5 tsp; children over 12 years old – 1 tsp.         

Side effects

Dyspeptic symptoms, abdominal pain, skin rash.

Contraindications

Acute gastroenteritis and colitis, pregnancy, metrorrhagia.
