pharmachologic effect

Changes the surface tension of gas bubbles in the contents of the stomach and intestines, as a result of which they are destroyed. The released gases are absorbed by the intestinal wall or out. The action of simethicone is purely physical in nature, it does not participate in chemical reactions and is inert in pharmacological and physiological respects.

Simethicone is not absorbed by oral administration and is excreted by the intestine in an unchanged state.

Indications for use

Flatulence, aerophagy, dyspepsia; preparation for diagnostic tests of the abdominal organs; as antifoam during intoxication with surface – active substances.

Dosage and administration

Capsules . With flatulence, children of school age and adults   are prescribed 2 capsules of espumisan 3-5 times a day. To prepare for diagnostic studies, 2 capsules are prescribed 3 times a day the day before the study and 2 more capsules on the morning of the day it is conducted. Espumisan is taken with or after meals.  

Drops are oral. With flatulence: infants   are prescribed 1 ml (25 drops) of espumisan L, adding the drug to the baby bottle with each feeding, or give it with a small spoon before or after breastfeeding; children aged 1-6 years   are prescribed 1 ml of the drug (25 drops) 3-5 times a day; 6-14 years – 1-2 ml (25-50 drops) 3-5 times a day; children over 14 years of age and adults   are prescribed 2 ml (50 drops) 3-5 times a day.         

The drug is taken during or after a meal, and, if necessary, before bedtime. Before use, the contents of the vial should be shaken well. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually. If necessary, the drug can be taken for a long time.

Side effects

In some cases, with the use of the drug, allergic skin reactions were noted (skin rash, itching).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, intestinal obstruction.
