The laxative effect occurs within 24-48 hours after ingestion.
Indications for use
Symptomatic treatment of constipation.
Method of administration and dosage
The drug is intended for oral administration.
Adults and children over 8 years old are usually prescribed 1–2 sachets of the drug per day, preferably in the morning, in 1 dose with meals. Each bag is pre-dissolved in a glass of water.
The duration of treatment in children should not exceed 3 months, since there are no data from clinical studies on the use of the drug beyond this period.
Side effects
Bloating and / or abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, urge to defecate, and involuntary bowel movements may occur. Possibly a violation of water and electrolyte balance and / or dehydration, especially in elderly patients. Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions may occur, including itching, urticaria, rash, facial edema, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock, bronchospasm.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to macrogol or other components of the drug; inflammatory diseases of the colon; intestinal obstruction or suspicion of intestinal obstruction; intestinal perforation or its threat; abdominal pain of undetermined origin.
Use with caution in patients prone to imbalance in water and electrolyte balance, namely: elderly patients with impaired liver or kidney function; while taking diuretics, the possibility of diarrhea should be considered.
Overdose
Overdose leads to diarrhea, which can be stopped if you temporarily stop using the drug or reduce the dose. Correction of violations of water – electrolyte balance may be required.
