Fleet Phospho – soda

pharmachologic effect

Laxative drug with osmotic properties. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on an increase in water retention in the lumen of the small intestine using osmotic processes. The accumulation of fluid in the ileum leads to increased peristalsis and subsequent bowel cleansing.

Indications for use

For bowel cleansing when preparing a patient for colon surgery or for preparing for X-ray and endoscopic bowel examinations. A bowel cleaner should not be considered a treatment for constipation.

Method of administration and dosage

The use of Fleet Phospho – soda should be started the day before being sent to a hospital.

If you are referred to a hospital before noon, you should follow the instructions for the morning appointment; for directions after 12:00, follow the instructions for evening appointments. 

Morning appointment

The day before the appointment.

07:00 – instead of breakfast, drink at least 1 full glass of clear liquid or water, you can drink more if you wish. Clear liquids include water, clear soup, squeezed fruit juice without pulp, black tea or coffee, clear carbonated or non-carbonated soft drinks. 

1 – Dose – diluted 45 ml of the drug in 0.5 cups (120 ml) of cold water. Drink the solution and drink 1 full glass (240 ml) of cold water, you can drink more water if desired. Drink as much fluid as possible to replace the fluid lost due to bowel movement.    

13:00 – lunch: instead of lunch, drink at least 3 full glasses (720 ml) of clear liquid or water, you can drink more if you wish.  

19:00 – dinner: instead of breakfast drink at least one full glass pro – transparently liquid or water, if desired, you can drink more. 

2 – Dose – diluted 45 ml of the drug in 0.5 cups (120 ml) of cold water. Drink the solution and drink 1 full glass (240 ml) of cold water, more water if desired.    

Additional water or clear liquids can be drunk before midnight if needed. Consuming large amounts of clear liquid also helps to ensure that the bowel is cleaned before the procedure.

Evening appointment

The day before the appointment.

13:00 – lunch: light lunch allowed. After dinner, solid food is allowed only after the completion of the medical procedure. 

19:00 – dinner: instead of dinner, drink at least 1 full glass of clear liquid or water, if you wish, you can drink more water. 

1 – Dose – diluted 45 ml of the drug in 0.5 cups (120 ml) of cold water. Drink the solution and drink 1 full glass (240 ml) of cold water, if you wish, you can drink more than 1 glass.    

Drink as much fluid as possible to replace lost due to bowel movement.

During the evening, drink at least 3 full glasses of water or clear liquid before bed.

Day of appointment.

07:00 – breakfast: instead of breakfast, drink at least 1 full glass of clear liquid or water, you can drink more if you wish. 

2 – Dose – diluted 45 ml of the drug in 0.5 cups (120 ml) of cold water. Drink the solution and drink 1 full glass (240 ml) of cold water, if desired, you can drink more than 1 glass. Drink as much fluid to replace lost from – for a bowel movement. Consuming large amounts of clear liquid also helps to ensure that the bowel is cleaned before the procedure.    

20:00 you can drink additional water or pro – transparently liquid.

This drug usually causes a bowel movement in 0.5-6 hours. 

1 bottle (45 ml) contains: sodium phosphate dodecahydrate – 10.8 g and sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate – 24.4 g.     

Side effects

Nausea, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, vomiting, abnormal results of colonoscopy (single or multiple point on – stated failures is located in the rectosigmoid department who do not are – are clinically relevant and tested without any treatment). Disorders of cardio – vascular system.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to active or auxiliary substances of the drug, during pregnancy and lactation. Nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. Congestive heart failure. Clinically significant renal failure. Ascites. Diagnosed or suspected gastrointestinal obstruction. Megacolon (congenital or acquired). Perforation, intestinal obstruction. Active inflammatory bowel disease. Individuals with primary hyperparathyroidism associated with hypercalcemia.

Age under 18. 

Overdose

Dehydration, hypotension, tachycardia, bras – dikardiya , tachypnea, heart failure, shock, respiratory failure, dyspnea, convulsions, paralytic ileus, disturb – GUSTs , pain, increasing levels of sodium and phosphate and reduced levels of calcium and potassium in the blood plasma. Hypernatremia, hyperphosphatemia , hypocalcemia , hypokalemia, and acidosis may develop.
