pharmachologic effect
After oral administration, the drug quickly begins to interact with gastric juice, forming a layer of alginic acid gel on its surface, which has a near-neutral pH value and effectively covers the walls of the stomach (within 4 hours), preventing the occurrence of gastroesophageal reflux.
Indications for use
Gaviscon mint tablets: treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, namely heartburn; belching sour; digestive disorders related to reflux, including during pregnancy.
Gaviscon mint suspension: symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux, heartburn, including in pregnant women.
Gaviscone Fort mint suspension: symptomatic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, reflux – oesophagitis, indigestion functions that cause reflux.
Dosage and administration
Gaviscon Peppermint Tablets. Adults and children over 12 years of age take orally 2–4 tablets after meals and at bedtime (up to 4 times a day). Chew tablets.
Gaviscon mint suspension. Adults and children over 12 years of age take orally 10–20 ml (2–4 tsp) after meals and at bedtime. Children 6-12 years old – 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoons) after meals and at bedtime.
Gaviscon forte mint suspension. Adults and children over 12 years of age take orally 5-10 ml (1-2 tsp) after meals and at bedtime.
Do not use the drug for more than 7 days.
If the symptoms of the disease persist or intensify, the patient must consult a doctor to clarify the diagnosis and correct the treatment regimen.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (skin rash, urticaria, bronchospasm, anaphylactic shock or anaphylactoid reactions). Bloating, constipation.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, including esters of hydroxybenzoate ( parabens ). Age to 6 years.
Overdose
It happens very rarely and manifests itself in the form of discomfort and a feeling of bloating.
In case of an overdose, discontinue use of the drug and conduct symptomatic therapy.
