pharmachologic effect
An antiulcer agent that inhibits the secretion of hydrochloric acid, protects the mucous membrane of the stomach and duodenum.
Indications for use
Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, gastroesophageal reflux disease, chronic gastritis with increased acid-forming function of the stomach in the acute phase, non-ulcer digestive disorders, Zollinger -Ellison syndrome , gastric and duodenal ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; active against Helicobacter pylori .
Method of administration and dosage
The capsules are taken whole, without breaking or chewing.
Tablets, capsules. With peptic ulcer of the duodenum and stomach, reflux – esophagitis is prescribed at a dose of 20 mg 1 time per day (before breakfast) for 2 weeks. If, after the first two-week course, the ulcer has not healed, the course of treatment is extended for another 2 weeks or until complete recovery.
For patients with Zollinger – Ellison syndrome , the drug is prescribed at an initial dose of 60 mg per day. The duration of therapy depends on the dynamics of clinical manifestations. The maintenance dose for Zollinger -Ellison syndrome is set individually, it is 20–120 mg per day. If it is necessary to use the drug in a dose exceeding 80 mg per day, it must be divided into 2 doses.
For peptic ulcer of the duodenum associated with Helicobacter pylori, the drug is prescribed at a dose of 20 mg 2 times a day (morning and evening) for 7 days in combination with antibacterial agents.
Side effects
In isolated cases, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, headache, general weakness, sleep disturbances, depression, visual impairment, skin rash, joint and muscle pain, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia are possible.
Contraindications
Individual intolerance, pregnancy and lactation, severe liver dysfunction. It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to children.
Overdose
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, headache, dry mouth, sweating, tachycardia, inertia, depression, and confusion may occur. All symptoms observed with an overdose are temporary. The rate of elimination of the drug does not change when the dose is exceeded and does not require special treatment. Treatment . Symptomatic.
