Strengthens the defense mechanisms of the gastric mucosa and promotes healing of injuries.
Indications for use
Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer, benign gastric ulcer, non- ulcer digestive disorders , exacerbation of chronic gastritis with increased or normal acidity, reflux – esophagitis, erosive esophagitis, hypersecretory conditions, such as Zollinger – Ellison syndrome , prevention of bleeding, prevention of recurrence of peptic ulcer from the upper gastrointestinal – intestinal tract; before general anesthesia to prevent aspiration of gastric contents into the lungs (Mendelssohn’s syndrome), especially during childbirth; for the prevention of ulceration when taking NSAIDs and NSAIDs that damage the gastric mucosa; the drug can be used together with antibacterial drugs in complex therapy aimed at eliminating Helicobacter pylori .
Method of administration and dosage
Pills. Adults are prescribed for exacerbation of duodenal ulcers or benign stomach ulcers 300 mg, which are divided into 2 doses (150 mg each morning and evening) or taken 1 time per day. Treatment should be continued until the ulcer is scarred or, if re-examination is not possible, within 4–8 weeks. In most cases, duodenal and gastric ulcers heal after 4 weeks. In some cases, it may be necessary to continue treatment for up to 8 weeks. When treating peptic ulcer disease, abrupt withdrawal of the drug is not recommended, it is usually recommended to switch to a maintenance dose of 150 mg at night.
In the treatment of non-ulcer dyspepsia and gastritis , a shorter course of 75 mg 4 times a day is possible .
With reflux – esophagitis – 150 mg 2 times a day for 8 weeks, if necessary up to 150 mg 4 times a day.
To prevent recurrence of peptic ulcer disease, it is recommended to take 150 mg 1 time per day, before going to bed.
To eliminate Helicobacter pylori, the drug should be used according to the following scheme: for 10-12 days, 150 mg 2 times a day in combination with Amoxicillin (500 mg 4 times a day) or Tetracycline (500 mg 3 times a day), or Clarithromycin (250 mg 4 times a day). Then 18 days Ranitidine 300 mg at night.
Side effects
Nausea, dry mouth, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, increased activity of hepatic transaminases; decrease in blood pressure; slow heartbeat, arrhythmia; headache, dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness; blurred visual perception; joint and muscle pains, allergic skin reactions.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, lactation period. Use with caution in renal and / or hepatic failure, cirrhosis of the liver with portosystemic encephalopathy (in history), acute porphyria, under the age of 12 years, during pregnancy.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, it is necessary to flush the stomach and carry out symptomatic therapy. If necessary, the drug can be removed from the blood plasma using hemodialysis.
