pharmachologic effect

It has an antitussive, mucolytic and expectorant effect.

Indications for use

Dry, irritating, paroxysmal cough of various origins.

Dosage and administration

The dose of the drug is calculated based on the patient’s body weight.

Drops : less than 7 kg – 8 drops every 6–8 hours (3-4 times a day); 7-12 kg – 9 drops every 6-8 hours (3-4 times a day); 13–20 kg – 14 drops every 8 hours (3 times); 21-30 kg – 14 drops every 6-8 hours (3-4 times a day); 31–40 kg – 16 drops every 6–8 hours (3-4 times a day); 41-50 kg – 25 drops every 8 hours (3 times a day); 51–70 kg – 30 drops every 8 hours (3 times); 71–90 kg – 40 drops every 8 hours (3 times a day).                        

Syrup : 7-12 kg – 1.25 ml 3-4 times a day; 13–20 kg – 2.5 ml 3 times a day; 21-30 kg – 2.5 ml 3-4 times a day; 31-40 kg – 2.5 ml 3-4 times a day; 41-50 kg – 5 ml 3 times a day; 51–70 kg – 5 ml 3 times a day; 71–90 kg – 5 ml 4 times a day; more than 90 kg – 7.5 ml 3-4 times a day.                        

Tablets : 41-50 kg – 0.5 tablets 4 times a day; 51–70 kg – 1 tablet 3 times a day; 71–90 kg – 1.5 tablets 3 times a day; more than 90 kg – 2 tablets 3 times a day.        

The drug in the form of drops is used in children aged 6 months and adults. It is recommended to dilute in 100 ml of liquid (water, tea or fruit juice). For children who are not able to drink 100 ml of fluid, you can reduce the amount of fluid to ensure that you receive the necessary dose.  

The drug in the form of a syrup is intended for use in children aged 6 months and adults .

The drug in the form of tablets is used to treat children over 12 years of age and adults. The interval between separate doses of the drug in the form of a syrup or tablets should be 4-6 hours. 

It is advisable to take the drug after eating, drinking plenty of fluids. Do not take the drug for longer than 7 days without consulting a doctor.

Side effects

Lack of appetite, headache, lethargy, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions including anaphylaxis, angioedema (immediately paced, limited swelling of the skin, subcutaneous – adipose tissue and mucous membranes), rash , itching, urticaria, exanthema ( measles-like rash), urolithiasis .

Contraindications

The first trimester of pregnancy, lactation, children up to 6 months (drops, syrup), age up to 12 years (tablets), hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, myasthenia gravis. The drug is not used in patients with productive cough and / or persistent or chronic cough associated with smoking; BA chronic bronchitis or emphysema.

Overdose

Symptoms Drowsiness, muscle weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, arterial hypotension. X-ray negative urolithiasis is possible . There is no specific antidote.

Treatment. In case of the above symptoms, induce vomiting, rinse the stomach, take activated charcoal.

Symptomatic therapy aimed at maintaining the function of cardio – vascular and respiratory system, kidneys and electrolyte balance
