pharmachologic effect
Zolmitriptan (active ingredient) stops the development of a migraine attack without a direct analgesic effect, relieves nausea, vomiting, light and sound fear . Relieves the migraine associated with menstruation. A high dose of the drug causes drowsiness.
Indications for use
Treatment of migraine attacks with and without aura.
Method of administration and dosage
The recommended dose is 2.5 mg of the drug (1 tablet). In the absence of effect or in case of relapse of pain, it is possible to take a repeated dose (2.5 mg), but not earlier than 2 hours after taking the first dose. If the dose of 2.5 mg is insufficiently effective, a single dose may be increased to 5 mg (the maximum single dose). The maximum daily dose is 15 mg.
Side effects
From the digestive tract: nausea, dry mouth.
From the side of the central and peripheral nervous system: dizziness, drowsiness, impaired sensitivity, a feeling of heaviness and tightness in the throat, neck, limbs and chest, weakness.
On the part of the bone – muscular system: muscle pain or weakness.
Cardio – vascular system: transient increase in blood pressure.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, hypertension, ischemic heart disease, angiospastic angina pectoris, severe liver dysfunctions, children and elderly (over 65 years) age.
Overdose
With a single dose of the drug at a dose of 50 mg, a sedative effect was observed. There is no specific antidote.
Treatment . Symptomatic.
