pharmachologic effect
Selectively inhibits the production of pepsinogen and hydrochloric acid by the glands of the stomach without significantly affecting the m – cholinergic receptors of the heart, salivary glands, eye muscles and other organs. The drug blocks the secretion of hydrochloric acid stimulated by histamine by 25 %, by 53 % by food intake, by 58 % by insulin.
Indications for use
Stomach ulcers (acute and chronic); duodenal ulcers (acute and chronic); pylorospasm; duodenitis; esophagitis.
Method of administration and dosage
The daily dose of the drug in tablets is from 50 to 150 mg. The average single dose is 50 mg. Gastrocepin is taken twice a day, 30 minutes before meals. The recommended duration of treatment is 1–1.5 months. R – p of the drug is injected intramuscularly or slowly into a vein twice a day in a single dose of 2 ml.
Side effects
Dry mouth, mydriasis, headache, constipation, tachycardia, accommodation disorders, urinary retention, allergic reactions.
Contraindications
Glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, pregnancy and lactation.
Overdose
Symptoms Dry mouth, mydriasis, muscle twitching, tachycardia, delirium, chorea, athetosis, urinary retention.
Treatment. Gastric lavage, activated carbon, in case of severe poisoning – intravenous administration of physostigmine.
