pharmachologic effect

It improves the metabolism of carbohydrates, has a vasodilating effect, is effective in diseases of the heart, liver, mild forms of diabetes mellitus, peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum, enterocolitis, sluggishly healing ulcers and wounds. Shows hypolipidemic activity.

Indications for use

Prevention and treatment of pellagra; hypoacid gastritis, acute and chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver, vasospasm, atherosclerosis, neuritis of the facial nerve, infectious diseases, long-term non-healing ulcers and wounds of various localization and genesis.

Dosage and administration

Inside after eating. With pellagra , adults are prescribed 0.1 g 2-4 times a day for 15-20 days; children – 0.005-0.05 g 2-3 times a day. For other diseases, adults are prescribed 0.02-0.05 g (up to 0.1 g), children – 0.005-0.03 g 2-3 times a day.

Higher doses for adults : single – 0.1 g, daily – 0.5 g. With atherosclerosis and other lipid metabolism disorders, a single dose can be gradually increased to 0.5-1 g, and daily – up to 3-5 g.

Side effects

Possible urticaria, paresthesia, dizziness, sensation of a rush of blood to the head, flushing of the skin of the face and upper body. As a rule, these effects disappear on their own. With rapid on/in the introduction can significantly reduce blood pressure.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to nicotinic acid.
